The RhyDin Magical Authority

Begun long ago by a long-forgotten Mayor of RhyDin...

The original purpose of this tax-supported institution was to regulate the use of magic in the city of RhyDin, in order to defend the populace from rogue wizards, to defend wizards from themselves by imposing safety regulations, and to encourage the growth of magic by providing free magical education and grants for research. Unfortunately, like most public institutions in the city, it has fallen prey to a lack of serious funding, mismanagement, occasional corruption, and general disdain on the part of the citizens. Various private individuals and groups in RhyDin's histroy have made donations, but only sporadically. It is currently uncertain how the power of the Barons will affect the institution. The leader of this organization is called the Magician-General of RhyDin. Iodor Ulson, who has held this post for nine years, has recently found a replacement for himself, Dr. Jacques leCitadin, who may take the RMA in a new direction...or perhaps finally destroy it, if he proves not to be up to the task.

The Office of the RhyDin Magical Authority is in a side-chamber of City Hall. The only visible service nowadays performed by them are occasional patrols of the marketplace to stop magic-using thieves. It currently has only twenty-five employees, including the Magician-General.
