Looking for a little help on an RDI event!

Recently, I've been getting a bunch of questions from people interested in RoH and dueling from the shifts that a lot of our RDI storylines are taking. So I've been tossing around the idea of hosting another big roleplay event specifically to showcase the duels and introduce more people into the sport. The last time I hosted an event with Sin, we maxed out the capacity for the chatroom, and I plan on outdoing myself again, damnit. I'm all for getting more people involved.

As such, I was wondering if it was possible to get official callers for the event and if people would be interested in participating, getting fresh faces into the swing of things, all that jazz. Ideally, there might be a showcase match for each matrix, showing off some "famous names" in Fists, Magic, and Swords or what-have-you, and getting people involved in trying it out themselves in a roleplay-friendly and question friendly setting.

So! For the RoH admin folks, if it's cool to make this a called event, let me know. And if anyone would be willing to call or would be interested in a "showcase match" let me know too! I don't have a date yet, but it will probably be sometime late December (while everyone has holiday vacation, maybe?) or early January once I get all the logistics figured out.

While I am not the voice of the Admin, I am pretty sure there won't be a problem from the admin on this. In fact, you would mroe than likely get encouragement.

I'm on the fence. While I feel that people will be more comfortable to participate on a site they're familiar with for the first few duels, I much prefer the caller's box on the RoH chatroom because it's a whole lot easier to understand when you're dueling for the first time. I think I might have the main event be at the RDI Arena and pump up some support there, then hold an "afterparty" at the RoH side, maybe at Great Helm? It'd be cool to get some use out of that place too.

But yeah. Still on the fence.

I'm cool with it. What would entail a "showcase match" though? high profile duelists? If I can participate in whichever day it will take place, I'll be there. Did you want to showcase one style of duels, or all? Want to make the official on standings, or was something else in mind?

Maybe even get up teams and we could do a TDL duel! Like what got TDL started over 10 years ago, two Dueling Houses decided to put their Houses against each other. That would be an awesome showcase.

Seriously though, all three matrix would be a good idea to show off for this. Definitely. I think at the very least there needs to be chat open for this in RDI side, after all you're trying to get some from there to take interest here. Related question: if a person doesn't have a registered name in RoH, can they even get into the chatrooms here? I'm thinking not, in which case I'm not sure how that would help get their interest for the night. Unless registration is that fast? ::shrug:: Either way, it might deter them from wanting to go into RoH chat that night if they have to deal with a registration. Maybe give good heads up advertisement ahead of time (at least a week) and get them to register prior to the event. I think that would help. It can't hurt.
