Sunday Drive

Sunday Drive ; the word will never again hold the meaning it used to for me. Easy, fun, sunshine, relaxing, none of those were part of the drive for me this Sunday.

It was epic and horrid, getting from Montey Bell State Park Northwest of Nashville to Southeast of Nashville during a constant downpour. A lot of roads were closed because of flooding, powerlines on the road, trees on the road. Powerlines and trees fell over not because of wind but because water washed out the ground they were anchored in, some of them fell as we were driving along a road not yet closed, barely missing the cars. Some roads closed just minutes after we passed. Between detours on the long way around the metro area and driving slow enough to have time to deal with hazards, what was a one hour drive Thursday turned into a six hour drive on Sunday. We made it, and I never want to do that again. Perhaps I should have listened when the interstate trooper said that the only way one could make it to Rutherford county from Dickson county that day was to fly.

I'll get to all the wonderful suggestions regarding DoM everyone posted over the last 4 days just as soon as possible. (Provided the creeks won't rise + any further)

I think I speak for everyone when I say take care of you and yours first, the DoM rules and such are a very distant second. Take care of your priorities and I hope everything turns out okay for you!

You should have gone white water rafting in your car. It would have made the drive that much more exciting.
