The Meadowmeet 2023

Post by JewellRavenlock »

Follow a newly discovered path in the Solarium, lined by the nine sacred trees, until the canopy gives way not to the glass ceiling expected, but the twilight sky of Faerie. The open meadow at the end of the path is far larger than the Solarium itself, surrounded by a living wall of ancient trees. At its center stands a wizened oak standing, the focal point of the fae market known as the Meadowmeet.

Gold and green lanterns drift in the air, with sprites, pixies, and will-o-wisps darting among them. A boardwalk crosses the tall grass and wildflowers, spiraling around the oak. Alongside it, brightly colored canvas stretches in awnings and over the back of wagons, forming booths with banners outside declaring their wares: food and drink, alchemy, trinkets, weapons, enchanted treasures, rare fabrics, and unusual spices. Entertainers of all stripes gather in the center of circular stages, performing songs and dances and tricks.

Not all may be gained by coin or other trade–games of skill and chance abound. Indeed, there are even rewards to be earned by those skilled with a blade, their fists, or magic. Around the back of the large oak, a scoreboard hangs from a low branch above where a redcap sits on a barrel, ready to keep account of the wins attained by those who are brave enough to duel within the nearby rings outlined with phosphorescent mushrooms. He offers 5,000 pounds to the best fighter of the evening with a chance for even greater glory if they will join him across the Veil to showcase their accomplishments Faerie-wide.

||OOC||
There will be live play and dueling in #the-solarium on Monday, May 1st to enjoy the Meadowmeet setting. Feel free to use the setting throughout the week following Beltane at other times.

The dueler with the most wins for the evening of May 1st will be awarded 5,000 forum coins by the grisly redcap. We highly suggest your character not take him up on his offer to travel to Faerie with him though!

Having had a wonderful evening of music, dancing and laughter with friends and family, Josie was still flying high green fairy mode as she floated along amongst the ancient trees. Vie, her pixie dust sneezing, feywild familiar trotted alongside Josie, warning her not to make deals with certain very clever fae as she perused all the beautifully tempting wares.

The petite ballerina brought her cello along to play for those that wished to dance and did quite a bit of dancing herself, her dark hair woven with ribbons that floated along with her temporary, Beltane inspired wings. There were also sprigs of Myrtle tucked within her hair, with tiny crystals that looked like sparkling drops of dew when they caught a certain light that seemed to glow from within.

Eager to watch and learn from any dueling that took place once she’d had her fill of dancing, she made a mental note to try and attend more matches in the future.

Anya stayed away from the rings during Meadowmeet, choosing instead to focus on the performers and goods that weren't available elsewhere. She attempted some bartering, always backing off before she risked a more permanent visit to Faerie. To take away the sting of spending more than intended, tried to win it back at the gaming tables. Eventually, she lost track of whether she was up or down and called it a night.
