Challenge To Battlefield Park (Citadel Grace-Breaker Challenge Grant)

Post by Rachael Blackthorne »

A thick white sheet of parchment was tacked to the corkboard with a black and gold pushpin. The message that it contained was written in an exceptionally precise left-handed script in black ink. A seal in black and gold wax with the impression in the wax of a panther head was at the bottom of the parchment.

Because I achieved third place in the recent King of the Ring Tournament, I will utilise the Citadel Grace-Breaker Challenge Grant that I was awarded and hereby issue challenge to Myria Graziano for the custodianship of Battlefield Park.

Waiting has filled.

Baroness Graziano,

I shall indeed endeavour to “bring it on” as you have so eloquently phrased it in our upcoming challenge.

That being said, I am officially notifying the Duel of Swords Staff as well as the spectating public that the Baroness, Myria Graziano, and I will meet for the challenge to settle the custodianship of the Barony of Battlefield Park on Thursday, October the 12th at 9:30 PM EST. The honourable caller known as Conner Reid will preside over the challenge.

In lieu of arranging catering for the challenge to settle the custodianship of the Barony of Battlefield Park, the Blackthorne Household will cover the charges made at both the Arena bar and Wolves Den Bistro for the event instead.

This here challenge happened tonight and it were a swift one.

Using the Citadel Grace-Breaker Challenge Grant won because of her great success in the King of the Ring tournament, Rachael Blackthorne brought a challenge to Myria Graziano for the ring of Battlefield Park.

Rachael's colors were a black and gold banner emblazoned with a panther and a wolf. Her Court of Honor was composed of her husband, Ian Blackthorne, and the members of the Blackthorne Household. Her seconds were Warlady Amaris Silhaeven, Warlady Mairead Harker, Baron Gatito Lindo, and Baron Salvador Delahada.

Myria fought under her colors of blue and grey. She fought with no court of honor and no second. The Baroness selected a best of three format.

Myria fought with her trusty rapier, while Rachael entered the ring with a bladed staff.

The defending titleholder was first on the board in the first fight, and then picked up three clean points in three subsequent rounds. Rachael picked up her first point in a trade in round four, but it wasn't enough to hold off Myria who picked up the next point in a quick first win.

FINAL: Myria Graziano def. Rachael Blackthorne, 5 - 1 in 5 rounds.

In the second fight, Myria was first on the board again. Rachael and Myria managed to hold each other off for a couple rounds, slowing down from the pace of the first fight. In the fourth round, Rachael introduced Myria to the blade of her staff and got on the board. While Myria came right back to retake the lead, Rachael scored back-to-back with a whirl of her staff to find her first lead of the night! But her single point advantage couldn't hold. The Baron scored three unanswered points and closed out the challenge.

FINAL: Myria Graziano def. Rachael Blackthorne, 5 - 3 in 10 rounds.

Congratulations to Myria on the first defense of her reign! And well-tried Rachael!
