Locke's hit Sapphire, so officially, he is no longer eligible for the mentor/mentee program until he drops or gains a rank.

I think that just means he won't get an extra modifier but he can still be a mentee (and even when he makes Emerald Koy's still going to want to put him through some of the more unusual training techniques ;) )

Bumping to put this at the forefont of people's minds, and so it's more accessible and viewable and such! Also, could it be stickied? It seems important enough to warrant that.

Well many of the people do not know me, yet. The ones who do I would assume would reccommend me as a mentor. ((Other then the fact I havent RPin for 10 years. However, I definately know the mechanichs of the game))

I will be in The Outback Alot the next few weeks, so if you want to see me in action stop by.

Just to let folks know something, I'm going to be including this program more fully into the standings, listing who's being mentored by whom. So let's get some more of these Emeralds/Opals/Matt mentoring folks, shall we?

Yes, Matt, that was a joke. . .mr. Nine-Time Diamond. . .

Thanks to play in the Outback (3/8 - 3/9/10), Maranya is now going to mentor Scott (Montgomery Scott).

I think this is a pretty neat system, especially since I've suckered someone into mentoring me! (Not really but it sounds good that way no?) Was wondering if there was any chance of another mentor/mentee tag team tournament?

It's possible. We try and keep the special tournaments spaced well enough apart to keep them feeling special. It also usually has to do with the prizes involved. I don't know that even once we hold another tag team event it will be a mentor/mentee specific event, but that doesn't mean that people can't sign up that way.

Also just because Matt or I haven't put one together as an official DoF event doesn't mean that someone couldn't organize an event like that on their own. Player driven events are encouraged and I'm sure most of the time would be supported as much as possible/is reasonable.

Question: What happens to the Mentor / Mentee relationship when the Mentor drops down from Emerald?

I ask because that appears to have happened this week (Mur / Sarah) and because it could happen to me in the future since I *just* made Emerald and can absolutely see dropping back to Sapphire, so I don't know if it would be wise to take on a mentee before hitting 20 WoL or so to make sure there's a cushion.

You become a very disappointing mentor. We decided to keep it going from a RP perspective during this. Surprised its on the standings, as it might confuse others into thinking the OOC bonus applies during this week.

I don't know that we specifically addressed this when the idea was introduced but I think it's logical to assume that the bonus fancy is lost. I would think in the IC side of things the mentor/mentee relationship isn't devolved, and can remain listed but it makes sense that someone who's struggling in the rings will be less effective of a coach out of them. If anyone else has other suggestions we always appreciate and encourage them, but I think this is the most obvious answer. I'm surprised this hasn't come up previously.

Actually, it has come up. Carley (who was mentoring Shadowlord) dropped to Sapphire, and the "official" mentoring was put on hold until she can regain her rank. My fault for missing this with Mur and Sarah.

I wasn't trying to give you a hard time Misty, or you Mur. I just wasn't sure if there was a grace period or anything so I wanted to check.
